Manufacturing building to be converted to school

Phillip Katz Project Development and Williams Development Corporation have formed a joint venture called Capitol Crossings LLC that is redeveloping the former Chicago Crane Equipment Co. building at 225 West Capitol Drive into a $5 million Lad Lake Synergy North High School for at-risk children.

Capitol Crossings LLC won a competitive request for proposal in 2005 from the Milwaukee Department of City Development to convert the former manufacturing building into a school.  Capitol Crossings LLC has hired Briohn Building Corporation in Brookfield, Wisconsin to complete the renovation.  The Wisconsin Department of Commerce awarded Capitol Crossings a $400,000 environmental remediation grant to clean up the industrial site.

When finished in November 2007, Lad Lake Synergt North High School will operate from a 39,000-square-foot building with a 6,000-square-foot gymnasium.

For more than 100 years, the nonprofit Lad Lake agency has operated an alternative school for at-risk children in Dousman, Wisconsin.
